Problems of bone augmentation in treatment of inflammatory processes of jaws - the new solution

Abstract

The authors have developed a new biocomposite resorbable membrane for guided tissue regeneration based on hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate. Histological studies conducted on laboratory rats have shown that the use of resorbable biocomposite membrane “Diplen GUM” by wrapping bone defect area or defect tamponade leads to a reduction of the inflammatory response and significant acceleration of reparative osteogenesis. During clinical study the technique of using a membrane was developed. All patients had postoperative period with no signs of inflammation, relief of the alveolar mucosa was adequate to healthy sites, sutures were removed on the seventh day after surgery. The success of the membrane was confirmed by radiological studies in 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after surgery. At the same time the laser Doppler flowmetry study of the microcirculation in the gingival tissues was conducted. Dynamics of microcirculatory parameters in gingival tissues showed that the use of «Diplen GUM» membranes promotes more rapid recovery of tissue blood flow, which is associated with stabilization of remodeling processes in bone.
