The rules for authors are based on the White Paper of the Council of Scientific Editors on the observance of the principles of the integrity of publications in scientific journals, updated version 2012. (CSE's White Paper on Promotion Integrity in Scientific Journal Publications, 2012 Update) and ICMJE Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals, December 2016 ).

The aim and scope of the journal:

 

Endodontics Today is an international scientific peer-reviewed journal published quarterly (4 times a year) since 2001. The journal is included in the List of Higher Attestation Commission of peer-reviewed scientific publications, in which the main results of dissertations for the degree of candidate of science, for the degree of doctor of science, in accordance with the requirements of the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, should be published. The journal is an information partner of the Dental Association of Russia.

 

Endodontics Today is an open access journal that allows the international scientific community and the public to have unrestricted, free and immediate access to articles and freely use the content. The journal publishes articles by practicing dentists and researchers prepared based on original scientific research, reviews of scientific literature and clinical cases in the field of therapeutic dentistry and surgical endodontic dentistry, as well as the work of related dental specialties. The scientific concept of the journal allows both dentists and general practitioners to learn about new and advanced concepts in root canal treatment and the latest advances in endodontics.

 

The readership of the journal includes specialists in the field of endodontic dentistry, restorative dentistry, surgical dentistry, implantology, pediatric dentistry and periodontics.

 

The journal accepts original articles, literature reviews, descriptions of clinical cases for publication. The journal accepts contributions from graduate students, applicants, doctoral students, specialists, and experts in the field of Endodontics.

 

Recommendations to the author before submitting the article

Submitting an article to Endodontics Today implies that:

- the article has not been previously published in another journal;

- the article is not under consideration in another journal;

- all co-authors agree with the publication of the current version of the article.

Before submitting an article for consideration, make sure that the file (files) contains all the necessary information in Russian and English, the sources of information placed in the figures and tables are indicated, and all citations are formatted correctly.

Endodontics Today lournal accepts the following authorship criteria :

  1. Significant contribution to the concept or design of the work; or obtaining, analyzing or interpreting data for work;
  2. Designing a work or critically reviewing it for important intellectual content;
  3. Final approval of the version for publication;
  4. Agreeing to be responsible for all aspects of the work, ensuring that issues related to the accuracy or validity of any part of the work are properly investigated and resolved.

The list of authors does not include people who are not the authors of the article. The names of people who are not the authors but have provided other support are listed in the Acknowledgments section.

 

The editors of the " Endodontics Today " journal recommends to use the following checklists and schemes developed by international health organizations

All articles accepted for publication must have the following:

The title of the article should be given in Russian and English: 10-12 words that contain the main keywords. Abbreviations, formulas, trade names are not allowed to use.

Abstract

  1. Article title.
  2. Author names. Full name must be written in accordance with the foreign passport, or in the same way as in articles previously published in foreign journals (Ivan. P. Ivanov, Alexandr I. Petrov, John Matthews).
  3. The OFFICIAL ENGLISH NAME OF THE INSTITUTION must be indicated.
  4. Key words. To select keywords in English, we use the thesaurus of the US National Library of Medicine - Medical Subject Headings (MeSH).

Original studies and systematic reviews and meta-analyses should be structured by section and follow a generally accepted template:

  • Introduction;
  • Aim;
  • Materials and methods;
  • Results;
  • Discussion
  • Conclusions

Clinical cases should have the following structure:

  • Introduction;
  • Case Report;
  • Discussion;
  • Conclusions;

Literature reviews should have the following structure:

  • Introduction;
  • Aim;
  • Results;
  • Conclusions.

Authors are encouraged to use industry-recognized guidelines for the design of scientific articles for biomedical and biological journals.

References.

The journal uses the Vancouver citation format, which means citing the source in square brackets and then citing the sources in the bibliography in the order in which they are mentioned. The page is indicated inside the brackets, separated by a comma and a space after the source number: [6, p. eight]

The list of references includes only peer-reviewed sources (articles from scientific journals and monographs) mentioned in the text of the article. It is undesirable to include abstracts, dissertations, textbooks, manuals, GOSTs, information from websites, statistical reports, articles in socio-political newspapers, websites, and blogs in the list of references. If it is necessary to refer to such information, the source information should be placed in a footnote.

When describing a source, its DOI should be indicated if it can be found (for foreign sources, this can be done in 95% of cases).

References to articles accepted for publication but not yet published should be marked with the words "in press"; authors must obtain written permission to link to such documents and confirm that they have been accepted for publication. Information from unpublished sources should be marked with the words "unpublished data/documents", the authors should also receive written confirmation of the use of such materials.

In reference to articles from journals, the year of publication, the volume and number of the journal, and page numbers must be indicated.

All authors must be listed in the description of each source.

Links must be verified; the output is checked against the official website of journals and/or publishers.

The name of the journal and the title of monographs and collections are in italics, dots are put after the initials. There is no comma between the author's surname and initials.

Tables , photographs, and figures given in the text must have signatures in Russian and English , and be numbered. Graphs should be clearly marked, clear, and easy to read. The data in the table must match the numbers in the text. References to tables in the text are required. Drawings should be contrasting and clear. Each figure must be accompanied by a figure caption. References to figures in the text are required. Photos must be submitted as *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.gif files (*.doc and *.docx - if additional marks are applied to the image). Image resolution must be >300 dpi. Image files must be named according to the figure number in the text. The description of the file should contain a separate caption in Russian and English, which should correspond to the title of the photograph placed in the text.

Information about the conflict of interest . Authors should disclose potential and apparent conflicts of interest related to the manuscript. Any situation (financial relations, service or work in institutions that have a financial or political interest in published materials, official duties, etc.) that can affect the author of the manuscript and lead to concealment, distortion of data, or change their interpretation can be considered a conflict of interest. The presence of a conflict of interest among one or more authors is not a reason for refusing to publish an article. The concealment of potential and obvious conflicts of interest on the part of the authors revealed by the editors may be the reason for refusal to consider and publish the manuscript.

Sponsorship information. It is necessary to indicate the source of funding for both the scientific work and the process of publishing the article (foundation, commercial or government organizations, private people, etc.). The amount of funding is not required.

 

In case of publication of an article by a member of the Editorial Board, Editor-in-Chief and his deputies, assistant editor, this information is indicated in the"Conflict of Interest" Section.  

 

The patients. Compliance with ethical standards . To publish the results of the original work, it is necessary to indicate whether the participants in the study signed an informed consent. In the case of research involving animals , whether the research protocol complied with the ethical principles and standards for conducting biomedical research involving animals. In both cases, it is necessary to indicate whether the study protocol was approved by the ethics committee (with the name of the relevant organization, its location, the number of the protocol, and the date of the committee meeting).

 

Acknowledgements. The authors can express their acknowledgements to people and organizations that contributed to the publication of the article in the journal but are not its authors.

 

At the end of the document, authors must provide information about each of the authors, including ORCID and title. It is also necessary to indicate the contribution of the authors. Corresponding information (telephone, working postal address in Russian and English, e-mail) should also be included in this section.

The individual contributions of the authors should be selected from the list:

- a substantial contribution to the concept or design of the article;

- the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the article;

- drafted the article or revised it critically for important intellectual content;

- approved the version to be published.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.

  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).

  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.
